The Big Secret to SAT Writing Strategies to Excel

The Big Secret to SAT Writing Strategies to Excel SAT/ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips In the event that you've seen that the SAT Writing segment is by all accounts befuddling, that is becauseit's purposefully intended to be that way. Be that as it may, we're going to give you access on something that the College Board doesn't need you to know: there zone hardly any key insider facts that will assist you with understanding this piece of the SAT,and realizing them makes itmuch simpler to crack.Read on to figure out how to assume control over this area of the SAT. In this article, I am going to show you: How the SAT Writing attempts to deceive you with typical- sounding English How the SAT Writing testsunusual sentence structure and style decides that your English class might not have concentrated on The top ideas that the SAT Writing testover and again and again Why this consistency matters and how to utilize it for your potential benefit Right away, we should jump into one of the main ways the SAT Writing depends on making you mess up. Regular English Is a Trap Did you realize that the English you talk each day is likely linguistically incorrect? The College Board does, and in truth they were relying on that when they planned the SAT Writing. Each of the sentences beneath has at any rate one mistake. Would you be able to spot them? Kim and me went to the social equality meeting that was held at school today. We examined the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, discussed distinctive cutting edge issues, and were discussing the right to speak freely of discourse. We discovered that in the event that somebody is diverse to you, you should regard them for what their identity is. The SATtests regular off base English to see who realizes what sounds right, and who really realizes the diverse language rules. There are two primary procedures that the test writersuse to do this. The first is that they will give you a misleadingly basic looking sentence that sounds typical however really has a dubious language structure mistake. The second is to give you an absurdly tangled sentence that conceals a straightforward punctuation botch. They are trying you: would you be able to see through their sentences to the linguistic structures underneath? We should take a gander at a model. Here is something I as of late heard on a notable broadcast cooking rivalry: She cut the Wellington, and offered it to Nick and I to embellish. In spite of the fact that many individuals talk this current way,it's not right. Why?Nick and I are the two objects of the relational word to, and along these lines I ought to be in the goal case-me. In casual English use, you will regularly hear peoplemisusing pronoun cases. This is one of the many ordinary English botches that the SAT will toss at you. Not certain what a pronoun case is?There’s a guide for that. At different occasions, the SAT will shroud straightforward linguistic blunders in an exceptionally longwinded sentence. Model The sheep isn't appropriately cooked, and saying 'sorry' to the visitors for his missteps are the most humiliating thing about taking an interest inHell's Kitchen. On the off chance that the above sentence simply read, Saying 'sorry' are the most humiliating thing, the vast majority would promptly detect the blunder. The SAT includes extra superfluous expressions and provisos to make these basic blunder progressively hard to spot. Uplifting news! Since you know the principle way that the SAT Writing attempts to deceive you, you canuse it for your potential benefit. Recall that you can't simply utilize your ear to know whether a sentence is right or erroneous. (Except if you have a particularly prepared ear, obviously! Be that as it may, a great many people who talk regular English don't. Recollect that the SAT thinks about right syntax over awkwardness.Just in light of the fact that a sentence is expressed strangely doesn't mean it's mistaken. Search for very similar things that you would search for in an increasingly typical sounding sentence (like subject-action word understanding, pronoun case, and so forth.) to check whether it's syntactically right. Keep in mind, the SAT couldn't care less if something is off-kilter. This is the reason it's so imperative to comprehend what the SAT believes is linguistically right, instead of what you think sounds good. Many of these sentence structure rules you will be acquainted with, however other may come as a shock to you, and that is on the grounds that... SAT Writing Doesn't Always Test Normal Grammar Rules A portion of the standards they test you on appear to be out and out discretionary, and, actually, they are. In principle, you will have learned a large number of the more ordinary rules in your secondary school English class. As talked about above, however, this doesn't imply that these ideas will be canvassed in as clear a route as you are utilized to. Different occasions, be that as it may, you should gain proficiency with the SAT's odd language structure rules, which generally center onstyle, and what the SAT figures sounds correct!Don't be tricked by these on the grounds that they are not equivalent to what you have shrouded in class. Here are a portion of the top complex standards the SAT Writing favors: 1. Pronouns must have a reasonable forerunner. The predecessor is the thing that the pronoun is supplanting. On the SAT, the antecedentmust really be referenced in a similar sentence, or a close by sentence on account of Improving Paragraphs. In the event that it not 100% get - and illuminated - what the pronoun is alluding to, it's wrong in the SAT's eyes. How about we take a gander at a model: Melissa rushed into the theater and attempted to discover her seat, diminished that it had not as of now began. A great many people would experience no difficulty understanding this sentence. It's obvious from the setting that Melissa is soothed that whatever show she is finding in the performance center has not begun at this point. Be that as it may, in the SAT's eyes, this sentence would beincorrectbecause we don't have an unequivocally expressed forerunner for it. As per the SAT, the main things that it could allude to are either theater or seat - and neither of those bodes well! 2. Continuously use and rather than other interfacing words The SAT Writing likewise tests you on your capacity to state something in themost direct and compact way.By their measures, and is the most clear approach to consolidate things. Along these lines, in the event that you see a sentence attempting to supplant and with another interfacing word -, for example, in addition to or just as - it is wrong. Note this doesn't have any significant bearing to combining autonomous provisos for compound sentences. OnlyFANBOYS combination can be usedfor that task. We should take a gander at a model: Amanda took one occupation in a café in addition to one of every an inn. This would be consideredincorrect. Rather, attempt this: Amanda took one occupation in a restaurantand one of every an inn. 3. Just comparative things can be looked at We have an entire article on this point on the off chance that you need to go into it in more profundity. The essential thought is that the SAT just needs you to think about two comparative things. Clearly this has nothing to do with being linguistically right English-it's simply the SAT's inclination. For instance: John's vehicle was more up to date than Jerry. Syntactically this bodes well: Let's say that Jerry is 30 years of age, yet John's vehicle is just 5 years of age. Nonetheless, in the SAT's eyes this is a slip-up in light of the fact that a vehicle and an individual are too not at all like even think about being looked at. How about we take a gander at another: Kim Kardashian was desirous on the grounds that her selfies were not as well known as Khloe. Be careful with selfie rage. Once more, carefully from a language structure perspective, thisis a right sentence. One may trust that an individual is more well known than a selfie. In any case, the SAT doesn't need you to contrast Kim's selfies with Khloe; rather, it needs you to contrast Kim's selfies with Khloe's selfies. This is the means by which the sentence would look adjusted: Kim Kardashian was desirous in light of the fact that her selfies were not as well known as Khloe's selfies. Presently we are contrasting selfies with selfies, which are two comparative things, and consequently this examination has the SAT's favoring. 4. Try not to erase something except if it is repetitive This doesn't come up too oftentimes, yet periodically an Identifying Errors question will give you something like this: As a feature of his yearly installment, he gets a reward each year. As per the SAT, this sort of repetition is erroneous. This returns to our standard of making everything succinct as brief as could reasonably be expected - in the event that you have just been informed that something happens yearly, you don't likewise should be informed that it happens each year! 5. Be cautious ofusing in light of the fact that with things The SAT Writing will every so often utilize two developments with in light of the fact that, and them two are viewed as inaccurate. The first is something that has become normal slang recently:because + thing For instance, to reword an ongoing Carl's Jr. business, We made a disturbing burger with a frank on itbecause America. Better together? This, tragically, will never be right. Also, infrequently the SAT will utilize the accompanying off base construction:noun + is a direct result of How about we take a gander at a model: The dry season in California is a direct result of the absence of downpour. All in all, how would you ensure you generally get these issues? At whatever point you see since, ensure that it is joiningtwo statements. A proviso is something that has both a subject and an action word. On the other hand, in view of can be utilized as a relational word with a thing object, however all things considered ensure that the remainder of the sentence bodes well all alone in the event that you dispose of the prepositional expression! To fix the above sentences, we would state: We made an appalling cheeseburger with a sausage on itbecausewe have misjudged what America needs. Thereisadroughtin Californiabecausewe have had an absence of downpour. Or then again Thereisadrought in Californiabecause of the absence of downpour. 6. On the off chance that more than one answer is syntactically right, pick the most compact answer that has the least additional words. Numerous understudies erroneously imagine that having more words makes a sentence sound progressively scholarly, yet this isn't the situation. The SAT Writing will consistently be hoping to check whether you can detect the most immediate and succinct method of saying something. So when at least two answers are similarly linguistically right, go for the most compact answer. These six principles are essential to know,

Did the development of the phylogenetic tree dependent on the 14 living Caminalcules change the manner in which you would bunch Caminalcules species in your ordered grouping (graph)? What does this propose about order dependent on carefully of closeness versus developmental relationship? The phylogenetic tree was a greater amount of a developmental tree. It indicated the advancement of the creatures and their predecessors or characteristics that they diverge from. The outline anyway basically composes and isolates the creatures in likeness. The tree didn't change the graph, the diagram see likenesses with structures between the cutting edge life forms and the tree shows their developmental linage. The tree mirrored our ordered grouping. 2. Did your phylogenetic tree dependent on the 14 living Caminalcules vary from the phylogenetic tree based all Caminalcules, both living and fossil? Which do you have more trust in? What do fossils add to our comprehension of Caminalcules advancement regarding rates and bearing of transformative change? The two trees were genuinely extraordinary. We will compose a custom article test on Development Lab or then again any comparative theme explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page That is because of the more measure of data that was given by means of the fossils. The tree with all the caminialcules obviously demonstrated when a trademark ceases to exist and a trademark proceeds onward. We are increasingly sure about the tree with both living and fossil since it permitted us to see where the qualities of the life forms ceased to exist or proceeded onward. The fossils gave us that when a key characteristic remains in a living being it lets us to anticipate the bearing of the transformative change when taking a gander at advanced living beings. 3. Recognize the latest precursor of any two species. (e. g. pecies 5 is the latest predecessor of species 2 and species 4) species 75 is the latest progenitor of species 4 and 3 4. You will see that a few genealogies spread ordinarily and are spoken to by many living species. Give a model from your phylogenic tree of this fast expansion. Species 43 diverge to 8 distinctive cutting edge species. 5. A few ancestries (e. g. the relatives of species 58) changed next to no after some time. A genuine case of this would be â€Å"living fossils† like the horseshoe crab or cockroach. Give a model from your phylogenic tree of developmental balance. Talk about the environmental conditions that may bring about this kind of long haul transformative balance. A case of developmental strength would be species 13, the species endure in excess of 13 million years and now is a â€Å"living fossil†. The capacity for the species to replicate and get by in a territory implies a there is no requirement for the species to advance. Perpetual natural conditions brings about this drawn out balance. 6. Some Caminalcules went wiped out without leaving descendents. In reality, what normal for an animal varieties (not of their enivornment) may build the likelihood of an animal groups going wiped out? The natural conditions may have changed rapidly and the species couldn't adjust to those conditions, which in the long run lead the species to go wiped out. 7. Discover two instances of united development among the Caminalcules. Banning On Cloning Is Unjust Essay Example For Students

Forbidding On Cloning Is Unjust Essay On February 24, 1997, the world was stunned and interested by the declaration of Ian Wilmut and his associates. An official statement expressed that they had effectively cloned a sheep from a solitary cell of a grown-up sheep. From that point forward, cloning has gotten one of the most dubious and broadly talked about subjects. The issue that gets the best center is human cloning, and there has been an attack of fights and individuals campaigning for a restriction on it. In any case, there is a genuine peril that forbiddances on cloning will make the way for wrong limitations on acknowledged clinical and hereditary practices. Consequently, the restricting of cloning is low. The most mainstream issue with human cloning is the supposition that science would play God if it somehow happened to make human clones. This contention will not acknowledge the benefit of organic procedures and to see the progressions of the world. Strict protests were once raised at the possibilities of post-mortems, sedation, planned impregnation, organ transplants, and different acts that appeared to alter awesome will. However tremendous advantages have been assembled by every one of these advancements, and they have become a piece of people day by day life. The issue of playing God has just emerged when a specialist chooses a patient on stand-by for transplant and leaves others to bite the dust, and when the specialist puts their patient under life support at whatever point they are in trance like state or they are close to death. The ethical issue of cloning is like the past issue looked by the general public, for example, atomic vitality, recombinant DNA, and the PC encryptio n. There have consistently been strict and moral issues with new innovations and changes just in light of the fact that they are extraordinary and obscure to people. The open stresses over science playing God, yet in addition fears that the cloned childs self-sufficiency and singularity will be decreased on the grounds that it will have a similar DNA as someone else. One of the more expressively expressed feelings of dread about the loss of uniqueness is a thought for the privileges of the clone to a novel and untried genotype. Additionally, the cloned individual will be burdened with a genotype that has just lived. He won't be a completely shock to the world, and others are destined to contrast his exhibitions throughout everyday life and that of his clone source. Be that as it may, the kid who comes about because of cloning won't be a similar individual as the clone source, regardless of whether the two offer numerous physical qualities. Its uterine, youth, and in general raising condition and encounters will be unique. Given the significance for support in making an individual what his identity is, the threat that the individual cloned will co me up short on a remarkable distinction is exceptionally whimsical. When Ian Wilmut and his partners reported they had effectively cloned a sheep, president Clinton quickly restricted government assets from being utilized for human cloning research, expressing that, Any disclosure that addresses human creation isn't only a question of logical request, it involves profound quality and otherworldliness also. Every human life is one of a kind, conceived of a supernatural occurrence that spans past research facility science. Be that as it may, president Clinton has neglected to see the advantages of human cloning. Cloning can straightforwardly offer a methods for relieving ailments or regularly a procedure that can stretch out intends to securing new information for the studies of embryology. European scientists revealed that they had built up a technique utilizing cloning innovation that could assist numerous fruitless ladies with having babies; they do this by embeddings the core of one lady s egg into another womansegg. This would permit a more establ ished lady to have an infant that is hereditarily hers, however utilizing the assets of a more youthful womans egg. Human cloning can likewise empower couples in,which one gathering has a genuine inherited ailment, to duplicate without transmitting the ailment to their posterity. An infant young lady is brought into the world liberated from the quality that causes Tay-Sachs infection, despite the fact that both her folks are transporters. The explanation? In the early stage cell from which she was cloned, the defective quality was supplanted with ordinary DNA. .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .postImageUrl , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .focused content region { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:hover , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:visited , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:active { border:0!important; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; obscurity: 1; progress: darkness 250ms; webkit-change: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:active , .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:hover { haziness: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .focused content territory { width: 100%; position: re lative; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; content improvement: underline; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; fringe sweep: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: striking; line-tallness: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; content adjust: focus; content beautification: none; content shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: supreme; right: 0; top: 0; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8 .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u100b53882cac3f9edb4ebc028e840ec8:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Pro Choice Among Women EssayTwo years after Ian Wilmut has declared his disclosure, a gathering of European researchers revealed that they had cloned six calves utilizing another procedure that permitted the creatures to begin life organically more youthful than the matured cells from which they were inferred. Like Dolly, the claves are clones of the first DNA giver, careful hereditary duplicates as opposed to singular blends of male and female DNA. In any case, the cows likewise contrast from the sheep in one inconspicuous however key way. In Dolly the sheep, researchers found that cloned cells held the age of the giver. This time, utilizing cow egg cells, analysts adjusted benefactor cells so that the egg restored the new cells and gave them characteristics of young cells. Such procedures may in the end be utilized to make seemingly perpetual body parts from a patients own cells. This is one of the numerous manners by which human cloning can be advantageous to humankind. Dr. Richard Seed, one of the main defenders of human cloning innovation recommends that Cloning can help switch maturing by showing us how to interfere with our age to 20. This is conceivable in light of the fact that each time a cell is cloned it is treated as another cell with the age of zero. Consequently, cloning will empower people to duplicate their cells and have the new ones with the age of zero embedded into them when they are more established. This will permit people to live to any age they needed and dispense with the dread of mature age. In spite of researchers desires, the introduction of Dolly demonstrates that it is conceivable to reinvent the cell of a grown-up with the goal that it starts to build up once more. This newfound adaptability implies it might be able to create organs or tissues to fix the harmed ones; this will demonstrate a priceless asset, as there are insufficient organs to gracefully the interest at present. A report has indicated that an older man creates macular degeneration, an infection that demolishes vision. To reinforce his bombing visual perception, he gets a transplant of sound retinal tissue cloned from his own cells and developed in a lab dish. Not exclusively can the cloned cell fix harmed vision, it can likewise give an implantation of new bone marrow, and unions of fresh out of the box new skin. In contrast to cells from an irrelevant contributor, these cloned cells will bring about no threat of dismissal; patients will be saved the need to ingest incredible medications to stifle th e resistant framework. By consolidating the innovation behind early stage undifferentiated organisms and cloning, skin for consumed casualties, synapses for the cerebrum harmed and spinal harmony cells for quadriplegics and paraplegics can be developed. Likewise, conditions, for example, Alzheimer sickness, diabetes, cardiovascular breakdown, degenerative joint illness, and different issues can be made reparable because of human cloning. At this beginning period in the advancement of cloning, it is basic to proceed with the discussion about potential uses and damages of cloning, and not hurriedly establish enactment. A genuine fair society ought not pass laws banning something before there is real or plausible proof of mischief. In spite of the fact that cloning research presents a few risks, it additionally has numerous potential advantages and ought not be prohibited basically out of dread of its potential abuses. In such a circumstance of continuous discussion, Congress ought to be exceptionally delayed to confine the employments of cloning, since they are so personally associated with individual choices about family, propagation and relieving ailments. A government criminal disallowance on human cloning dangers denying barren couples of a conceivably real method of framing families, undermines set up rehearses in medication and geneti

Like what happens with a big tree, the roots hold it in place. The bigger the problem, the bigger and deeper the roots are. If tackling a problem is proving a problem in itself, then know that the issue is deep-rooted.Just as is the case with diseases, it’s easy to focus on the symptoms and start fighting them. This will only lead to frustrations as the signs will go away but soon show up again. And the next time they come up, they might be worse. You cannot afford to waste your resources strategizing against symptoms. For good results and maximum benefits, you need to address the root problem.Considering that you’re strategizing with an end in mind, targeting symptoms guarantees a series of failures. This will lead to frustration and a negative attitude towards striving to achieve your goals.Example SituationYou started a bakery business last year. You had done your market research well and decided on this business idea. You love baking and enjoy coming up with new recipes. You have hired talented and equally enthusiastic staff consisting of a sales person, cashier and 2 bakers. With sales coming from family, friends and their referrals, the first 9 months of business were a success. However, despite breaking even within 9 months, you’re yet to achieve 5% market share. In the course of the 15 months you’ve been operating, you have made changes in your operations policy twice. That didn’t make much of a difference though. Whereas you’re still making profit, you’re not growing fast enough. One of your bakers, the more skilled of the two, was poached by a competitor. Now you’re training a new hire. This is quite a setback given your desire to grow fast.Do yo need to make more changes to your operations policy? Do you need to start making more cake flavors? Buy advertising space on TV and the dailies? What do you do? What exactly is the problem? And how do you solve it?Identifying the ProblemAs mentioned, there are symptoms and causes. This is also true in this situation. Here are the signs that there is a problem in this bakery business.Resignation of a skilled employee (the poached baker)Slow growthIncreased operational costs (training new baker)Reduced profitsHaving recognized that there is a problem, do not rush to assume what caused them. Take your time to find out why the problem exists. From our example situation, the possible causes of the baker’s resignation could be many. It could be an unfriendly working environment, low compensation, low employee engagement, lack of career growth opportunities etc. Since ours is an example, the list of possibilities can be long.In your case however, you will have to drill down to the specifics. Even if the majority of businesses relate certain symptoms to   specific causes, you better confirm that it’s the case with you. Do not just tackle the problem as others are doing. There are at least three ways of identifying the problem. But then, these depend on the status of your business. Are you already in business and looking to make improvements? Or are you researching on strategic plans as part of your plan to start your business? If you’re yet to start your business, then the first idea given below may not be relevant to you. Read it for insight though so you’re informed. All the same, the other two will come in handy as they can be part of your market research.Talk to your employees â€" your employees know a lot about the company’s workings than you think. They may not match your education, experience, determination, wisdom or even wealth. Still, being th e ones driving operations, they always have suggestions to make.As a wise manager or business owner, it’s important to recognize the importance of employee engagement. Having your staff engaged has many benefits. Here is a short video on employee engagement. One way to foster engagement is by using the management strategy called Management By Walking Around. This method encourages the management team to intentionally interact with lower-cadre employees. This helps them understand the working environment and assist accordingly.Another way of talking to your employees is by using the bottom-up communication strategy. If you stick to the top-down communication method as many organizations do, you’ll miss some valuable insight from your team.Talk to customers â€" this is crucial for any business as customer feedback tells you how to satisfy customer needs. If you haven’s started your business yet, the customers you talk to can be your family, friends or even a stranger in the shop you’re planning to compete against. It’s all about finding out his opinion about the businessâ€"how it treats customers, the quality of their products, favorite products, quality of services etc.If your business is already running, you have some extra cards at your disposal. You can choose to include Live Chat in your website or blog, feedback forms, email surveys or even make periodic calls to your customers. And being in the digital world we are in, do not forget or ignore social media platforms. To benefit greatly from social media, use social listening tools. These tell you when and where your products or services are being discussed. Checking out those pages or platforms will give you great customer feedback.Check alternative offerings â€" your solution is only good when it delivers on the needs and wants of the customers. And if your goal is to beat the competition, then you have to know where the competition is failing. If alternative products or services can be purchased, tha t would be good. Buy and test them. If buying seems challenging, then read online reviews and comments from the manufacturers and their customers. This stage of identifying the problem to be solved is often the most challenging. For you to be unique and grow, you have to solve a real problem.Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, the founders of Instagram, realized this before they developed the photo-sharing app. They found out that the algorithm part was not the most difficult. The biggest challenge was identifying the problem to solve. Watch Kevin talk about it in the below video. 2. Define the SolutionOnce you know what the real problem is, it’s time to define the solution. This is a very simple step to take.If the customers are not happy with certain aspects of the options currently available, then your product should fix that. Succeeding in doing so is what will prove your prowess and establish you as the solution. This way, what you offer will sell well. And upon satisfying customer needs, you’ll move towards becoming the market leader. When you define your solution, communicate it and ensure everyone understands it.One way of simplifying this is by coming up with a solution statement. This will guide the daily operations and serve as motivation for achieving the set goals. You can have a solution statement for the whole business or for individual departments. For instance, you may have a product which needs improvements so as to compete better against the competition. For that to happen, the solution may include making changes to the product, changing the marketing strategy and improving on logistics. The production department can have their own solution statement telling them how they should improve the product so as to make it better. The marketing department can have one telling them how to market the product better. The logistics guys can as well have a solution statement telling guiding them on how to improve product availability. Here is an example that has b een perfectly crafted showing both the need (problem) and the solution. It’s from the African Leadership Academy. Source: ELPowerpoints20133. SWOT AnalysisHaving a solution statement is like knowing where you’re going. This is the vision you have to achieve. If you’re developing a product, you know what you want it to do and even how it will look like. You know the needs it should satisfy and in which way. With that, you now find out how best to go about the process. This will lead you to the SWOT analysis which looks at your Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats. After analyzing these, you will know which route is the best to follow to reach your goal. This is the route that is most efficient and least expensive. For a successful SWOT analysis, you should check the whole business and not just yourself or the management team. It is said that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. This is true in every team formation.Do not overlook any team or department and assume that they are strong enough. Check them out individually to ascertain their contribution. Here is how to do it:Streng ths â€" your strengths are the things which give you a natural competitive edge. Note the word “natural.” As much as you may improve your skills and even learn new ones, start by first listing those which come naturally. For example, if a member of your team loves engaging with others and easily influences people to follow her, then you have a marketer. This is regardless of whether she is currently holding that position or not.If you have someone who loves details, is very analytical and loves proving theories right or wrong, then you have a potential data analyst. This person can also be an accountant or even an internal auditor.Checking out your strengths should not be limited only to human resources. Do you happen to have a fat bank account? Maybe you can hire the best talent. Many company vehicles? You could have more efficient deliveries. What about your location? If you’re close to the market then you can save transport costs.Do you have special relationships with supplie rs, marketing agencies, media personalities, influencers etc? Those could come in handy too. Especially if the competition doesn’t have the same.Weaknesses â€" though not the most fun things to discover, your company’s weaknesses are nevertheless important to know. Ignoring them will be like allowing a broken wall to remain unrepaired.Knowing your weaknesses helps you know what to avoid. You can also use the knowledge to improve specific skills which are required to fulfill your goals. For example, you may have financial constraints. This will prevent you from hiring the best marketing agency. And since you don’t have any employee naturally good at marketing, you can opt to pick one and train him on social media marketing.Obviously, the marketing agency would have done more. They can come up with a marketing strategy, create blog content (text, images and videos), advertise in the dailies etc. However, you can substitute much of that through social media marketing.Opportunities †" opportunities are all over and businesses never lack these. In most cases, opportunities come in the form of problems. Whenever there is a problem, it is an opportunity to come up with a solution. It’s just a matter of who comes up with a solution first.Related to providing the solution, take heed not to be distracted by the need or desire to develop the best solution all at once. This will delay your progress.By the time your perfect solution is out, your competitor may have several versions of imperfect solutions and has built his brand.Having gone through the step of identifying the problem, you certainly have an opportunity to showcase what you have.More than that, anything else related to the problem you’re solving is an opportunity. For example, you may have picked the problem of delivering purchased products to your customers since others don’t do it.A related problem is creating convenience in payments. Add different payment options and ensure the whole system is secu re.If you decide to handle the absence or limited availability of healthy drinks, you can later on venture into healthy snacks. As you do your research, it’s important to consider the possibilities of growing your brand. Generally speaking though, opportunities always abound. You just have to keep your eyes and mind open and have the right attitude.Threats â€" depending on your industry, the threats facing your business may be many or little. It’s important to note that threats are very different from weaknesses though the two may be connected.Whereas weaknesses are usually internal in nature, threats are external. Threats are all about the factors which you can neither control nor accurately predict. As such, it can be very difficult identifying threats to your business. Some threats include economic factors, cyber crime, climate changes to weather-dependent businesses, political support and government regulations. Business threats can bring an established company tumbling down v ery easily. The best thing to do is to try and do a lot of research prior to settling for a business idea. And while the business is still running, do your best to stay informed and anticipate changes. You can check out this article for some questions to help you identify potential business threats.Knowing what you can do and what to avoid, you can now proceed to work on the execution of the strategy.4. Define Departmental Goals and Set TimelinesThe strategy will be executed at the departmental level.that doesn’t mean that everyone just goes ahead and implements their own interpretation of the strategic plan. There has to be order. As the business owner or leader or part of the management, you’ll have to break the vision into something smaller.Instead of posting the vision on the company notice board and letting people work towards it, let every department know what they’re expected to do and achieve. This will make it easier since everyone knows what their contribution is. It als o motivates the individual employees as they see the relevance of what they do and how it adds to the end results. As you break down the big goal into smaller departmental goals, try and make your goals smart. You have most likely read or heard much about SMART goals. True to their popularity, they are indeed helpful. They are even revolutionary if you have fallen into the pit of frustration from failing to achieve your goals. Source: Edward GiffordHere are some examples of how this could work out:IT DepartmentFind and install the best freeware tools to help improve the security and efficiency of the company’s IT Infrastructure.Tools to be used include firewall systems, antivirus systems and system cleanup and speedup tools. This should be achieved within 3 months.Finance DepartmentPerform an internal audit of the financial status of the company and advise on ways to improve cash flow without interfering with the marketing budget. This should be finished within 3 months.HR DepartmentDraft policies on employee training, compensation and non-discrimination. Implement the same to achieve a minimum of 20% employee engagement at work. This should be achieved in 6 months.Every other department should have similar goals clearly defined and committed to.5. AccountabilityDepartmental goals should be communicated from the top management to the departmental heads. This will make the managers accountable.Even if the communication in the organization is great, you should avoid calling a meeting and presenting this to all the staff at the same time.Though many people aren’t huge fans of being held accountable, this is a necessity if success is to be realized. In case your employees do not appreciate accountability, then you have to instill it into them. Here is a great video showing how to hold people accountable. And the most important part of it is that it all starts with you. As the head of each department takes the responsibility of overseeing the realization of his department’s goals, he is to communicate the expectations to his team. The individual teams will divide the work among themselves and work towards the goals. It’s crucial to help the managers understand how their work affects the other teams’ work. For example, if the IT team doesn’t secure the company systems, there may be a ransomware attack. That could negatively affect the company as operations may be affected and money u sed to pay the attackers. If the HR department doesn’t work on improving employee engagement, employees are likely to be unproductive at work. This results in reduced productivity and loss of business opportunities. In that situation, no goals will be achieved in spite of the strategic plans in place.6. RolloutWith everyone understanding the role they’re to play, it’s now action time.As you roll out your strategic plan, keep in mind that implementing a plan is a process. Every department must come up with a way of achieving their goals.“Strategy without process is little more than a wish list.”  Robert FilekKey in successfully implementing the plan is to identify any task dependencies. If the execution of one task depends on another’s results, then they should be arranged accordingly. The idea is to help avoid a backlog of tasks. With a smooth flow of tasks, resources are also well planned for. There will be less wastage and whatever is available will be put to good use.7. Review and ImproveThe set timelines are essential in tracking the progress of the individual and overall business plan. However, you must remember that you have dealt with the factors you are able to. There are factors which are beyond your control.Apart from the threats you identified at the third stage of this process, the nature of business is that it’s simply unpredictable. It therefore becomes necessary to make relevant changes to your strategic plan as time goes by.The beautiful thing about a strategic plan, or more simply, a strategy, is that it doesn’t change much. You’ll not need to make big changes but small improvements as the business environment changes.“After a business implements a strategy, competitors will react, and the firm’s strategy will need to adapt to meet the new challenges. There is no stopping point and no final battle. The competitive cycle continues on perpetually. Produce and compete or perish.”  Thomas Timings HolmeThe reviewing and improvin g part of implementing a strategic plan is crucial. Understand that flexibility is part of the strategy. So the overall strategic plan anticipates changes. The responses and reactions of the competition should be watched keenly and responded to quickly.Try and understand what the competitor’s reaction means and where it could be intended to lead.CONCLUSIONAs you think of making a strategic plan, keep in mind that the biggest challenge is in identifying the problem. It’s possible that a business produces a solution to a non-existent product.Once you understand the problem and come up with a solution, launch it and have a clear path to follow towards achieving your goal.

The Monopoly and Fair Return Sample Essay

The fair return is of great importance in assessing the comparative merits of various investments. In this regard, it is of significant importance whether this rule is calculated before or after the tax deduction. For most types of investments, the fair return after the tax takeout is more informative. Fair returns from investments most often are made more than once a year. And this means that it is necessary to analyse the annual interest rate (APR) to obtain comparable results. Since the definition of marginal average costs and marginal return, as well as the level of demand, is difficult, the fair return rate is used to determine the level of prices that are most useful. The rate of profit from 15% to 50% is quite acceptable, and the one that is more than 100% refers to super-profits. At the same time, it is necessary to remember that the turnover of the advanced capital in a number of industries may not be one year and it should be taken into account when calculating the rate of return. The market is monopolised when the products that do not have close substitutes are offered by a single seller to a wide audience because the entrance to this market is closed for other sellers. The market may be closed either due to a legislative ban on certain economic activities (state monopoly on alcohol or gambling, patented manufacturing techniques) or because of fear of large losses in case of an unsuccessful attempt to enter the industry. Sometimes, so-called natural monopolies appear that become the only producers of products not because of the closure of the market but because of the continued growth in returns. What combination of production/price will be chosen by a monopoly depends not only on costs but also on the goals. Unlike a perfect competitor, a monopoly does not necessarily have to strive to maximise profits. The position of a single seller allows it to set other goals, for example, maximising the fair return or profit margins. In addition, a monopoly can sell the same products at different prices at the same time. The usual average return of monopolies is fixed and assumes the character of permanent rent. And over it, a stable increment is formed that is an additional profit realised at a monopoly price. It turns into a super profit. The buyers of goods produced by a monopoly initially bear losses equal to monopoly profits. They include these losses in the costs of production and the prices of their goods. Thus, they shift their losses to other industries. As a result, the average return of total fair is reduced by a number of monopoly profits. And the sum of the prices rises as a result of the growth of production costs for many goods. The higher the monopoly profit is the lower the mass and the rate of average profit. Thus, a stable monopoly profit does not appear as a form of manifestation of the average profit. On the contrary, it denies the latter, distorts and hinders the operation of the mechanism of product prices in the non-monopolistic sector of production. The development of a stable monopoly profit occurred through the distribution of joint-stock companies. The effective equalisation of fair returns in the monopolistic sector does not mean the restoration of the law of average profit in it in its previous form. The averaged profits of monopolised industries are just average monopoly profits. The fair return is the form of realisation of monopoly profit. This is due to the fact that the profits of monopolies equal the difference between the sum of the prices of the goods sold by them and the sum of their production costs.
