On September 11, 2001 the United States became ground for numerous terrorist attacks, killing many innocent Americans. One of the attacks included the crashing of United Airlines Flight 93. The plan crashed at 10:03 A.M into a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania at 580 mph. It was Boeing 757 that held 37 passengers and 7 crew members that all were killed from the crash. The flights path was originally suppose to fly from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco, California, until four Muslim Hijackers took control of the plane and were headed toward Washington D.C (Avery). The passengers were frightened for their lives and several were able to make phone calls to their families to say their last goodbyes before the crash. When the passengers were†¦show more content†¦They don’t understand how is debris from the plane crash could have been able to travel that far from the impact with out being struck by something before it crashed. They give three examples of historic plane crashes such as, Turkish Airlines Flight 981, Air India 182, and Japan Flight 123. All three crashes left behind a good size of wreckage, numerous bodies and one, Japan Flight 123, even managed to have 4 survivors (Avery). So how does a Boeing 757 and all its’ passengers completely disappear they ask. Then they go on to show the reports that no jet fuel was left behind in water or soil from the department of environmental protection. They also questioned how that could have been possible when the plane crashed with 5,000 gallons or 37,500 pounds of jet fuel. Lastly the documentary states the fragile items that were left behind, such as a red bandana, the hijacker’s driver’s license, passports, and a Marriot hotel card from the flight attendant. They overall conclude that there was no way a 757 could have crashed on that day. They claim it had to have been a smaller plane shot down as a cover up and that the original plane landed somewhere safely. Another source from BBC news argues differently. They say there are clear pictures that show airplane wreckage and that the cockpit voice recorder showed that the passenger tried to regain control of the plane. They also

Coca Col An Epidemic Spreading Throughout The United States

Introduction Diabetes is an epidemic spreading throughout the United States. 29 million people in the United States currently live with diabetes. (â€Å"Center for disease control and prevention†, 2016). Coca Cola and Pepsi are two of the top soda distributers around the globe. Coca Cola has been a company since 1886 (â€Å"The History of Coca Cola†, 2014). On the other hand Pepsi has been avaible to the public since 1965 (â€Å"History of the birthplace†, 2013). These two companies have had over one hundred years combined to advertise, and sell their extremely un-healthy sugar filled beverages. That has aided the diabetes epidemic that is currently in the United States. If one consumes too much soda they will begin to have many health problems, which†¦show more content†¦In the years past scientists have recorded the number of deaths for each country that are because of or related to the over consumption of sugary carbonated drinks. Mexico has the most with a total of 404.5 million deaths, and the United States has the fourth most with 124.9 million deaths (Gebelhoff, 2015). With those statistics it can be concluded that consuming too much soda will lead to deadly disease, and possibly death. Next, it is shown through the nutrient facts how unhealthy soda is. The daily recommend sugar intake for adult males is 37.5 grams (Gunnars, 2015). The nutrient facts of one single 12 fluid ounce can of Mountain Dew contains 46 grams of sugar (â€Å"Calorie Count†, 2016). That is nearly 10 grams higher than what the recommended daily amount. A person would be going over the recommended amount without even considering other foods they ate throughout that day. By the end of the day a person could consume as much as twice the daily recommend amount, if they do not watch what they ate for that day. This simple statistic proves that drinking to many sugary beverages such as soda is not good for your health. Capabilities are its resources, processes (how they transform resources to products), and corporate values. While resources are adaptable to change, processes are not as flexible, and values are even less flexible. Therefore, when a disruptive technological change takes place, a company must look to its capabilities. If the change requires a tremendous amount of financial resources that the company does not have, then they obviously cannot invest in the change, on the flipside, if a large capital firm faces the same change, the investment in the disruptive technology may be so small that it is not worth their more valuable time. The same scenario goes for processes and values. Large firms may be so large, that altering their processes to suit a change may be too burdensome whereas smaller firms may have a much easier time making adjustments in their processes. In addition, it is more likely that a smaller firm’s values may be more flexible for disruptive change than large companies whose longstanding values are not easily adaptable. To overcome the natural inertial found in most large organizations, managers may create new structures within the organization where new processes can be developed. This involves taking out employees with the required capabilities and drawing a new boundary around them. When the organization’s values may not be compatible with the new processes, firms may create a whole new business venture which is wholly owned by the firm but located in a new location with the people and other resources necessary to create an environment conducive to the new process. And last, when a firm doesn’t have the supporting values, resources or processes for sustaining a new process, it may acquire another firm which does. Several factors may impact particular stages in the evolution of a new technology. For example, technological advances, changes in what consumers want or need, and changes in regulations may trigger a technology evolution. In addition, industry transformations often feed of environmental changes. However this necessary transformation, once triggered, does not actually begin until managers notice this need and act upon it. Once acting, managers seek to experiment, and this experimentation deeply impacts the industry as it helps shape what the new industry structure will be. Consequently, as experiments fail, the number of firms in the industry generally is cut in half, but occasionally may increase. An industry’s response to a new technology determines when and how the technological transformation will occur. Without managerial insight and decision making related to the technology, the current industry structure will persist. How Far Can People Look Forward with Confidence to Growing free essay sample

Little kids always have dreams about growing up. They imagine being an astronaut, a firefighter, or a princess. When they’re young, all they want is to be old. Little do young children know, growing up has it’s side effects. Today, senior citizens make up a majority of the world’s population. While growing old, it has it’s benefits like learning from mistakes and becoming wiser. It also has it’s disadvantages like health risks. As people grow older, they come closer to death but also experience a lot throughout their life spans. While some people look forward with confidence to growing old, other fears the aging process. Everyone who lives will eventually die. With life, comes death. A big question asked in today’s society is, â€Å"Where do we go once we die? † Many religions have their own beliefs. One religion, Christianity, believes that through God’s son, Jesus Christ, we will live eternally in Heaven. In order to get to Heaven, one must live for God and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Without believing in Jesus, one will go to Hell. Christians who are strong in their faith and live by The Holy Bible know where they will go once they die, which provides them with confidence in growing old. Other religions, such as Hinduism, believe in reincarnation into a new form based on their previous life. If one lives a good and pure life and lives by the Rig Veda, they will be confident for their next life. Having a strong faith in a religion can instill confidence in a person when it comes to growing old. Some people, even without religious beliefs, can look forward with confidence to growing old. An example of this kind of person is Oprah Winfrey. Oprah grew up physically and mentally abused, never looking forward to the next day ahead of her. She never thought she would be living life how she does now, as a world renown talk show host and hero for many. Oprah has established many foundations and organizations that supports charities, education of children, empowerment of women, and families in America suffering from poverty. She has also created many schools and orphanages globally, particularly in Africa. Not only has she gained so much joy from making a difference in the world, but she’s also gained the position as one of the Top 10 Wealthiest Women in the world. Oprah currently makes over 250,000,000 a year and is financially set for the rest of her life. Now as she’s getting older, she doesn’t have to worry about work or paying off any debts. She has the opportunity to live the rest of her life knowing that she’s made a difference in the world and will always be remembered. Because of this woman’s benevolent accomplishments, Oprah can look as far as she wants with confidence to growi ng old. This shows that those who work hard to overcome personal adversities can benefit from these efforts, thus changing their future proactively. Although there are many positive factors that provide confidence in growing old, there are also many negative ones that can replace one’s confidence with fear. Health is a major issue with senior citizens. Alzheimer’s Disease is a non-reversible brain disorder that is very prevalent among senior citizens. This disease initially starts with memory loss and confusion, leading to behavior and personality changes as well as a decline in cognitive abilities, like decision making and language skills. This disease is the most common cause of dementia among 65 year olds and older. There are no medications to slow the progression of this disease, which has taken over 90 percent of senior citizens in the U. S. The prevalence of Alzheimer’s Disease is thought to reach about 107,000,000 people by the year 2050 and according to the National Institute of Health, almost 4,500,000 Americans are living with this disease. This health risk that comes with growing older can definitely hinder the confidence of a person because of the negative outcome. Another reason why people today don’t look forward with confidence to growing older is because of financial stability. Currently, America is in the full throes of recession. The credit crisis won’t resolve itself for at least 20 years and banks are hemorrhaging citizens’ money. With growing old, comes retirement. People who are living in fear of their retirement are, namely, the baby boomers. These are people who were born after World War || to the mid 1960’s. Most of these people are approaching retirement but still have jobs and are living from paycheck to paycheck. They’re relying less on social security provisions and more on investments and pension plans to survive. The population of these baby boomer senior citizens are increasing, providing the government with a fear that none of the citizens will ever get to any meaningful financial degree. This leaves these people in an uncertainty of how they’re going to support themselves after retirement, providing them with a trepidation of getting to that imminent point in life. People do look forward to growing old everyday, however, there are those who do not. With growing older, one gets to experience life along with learning from it. People also have to experience hardships and turmoil. Elderly individuals want to look back on their lives and know that it was worth living. As a person ages, worries definitely increase when it comes to health and financial stability. Confidence is also instilled when a person has a strong belief or has made a positive difference in the world. Even though there will always be negative effects of growing older, there will always be positive ones too.
